Mediterraneanly: in search of the little things.

February, a peaceful calm reigns in the Mediterranean and a group of Chefs with many Michelin stars from different parts of the world land on the island with one unique objective: finding the perfect ingredient. So, we got down to business and prepared a very special adventure for them where they could get to know and experience first-hand our local culture, traditions and authentic way of life.

To do so, we contacted local fishermen who, despite being unaccustomed to this kind of thing, decided to participate and be part of this enriching coexistence.

We decided that they would stay in a unique rural hideaway, with an unbeatable atmosphere that would make them feel at home, located in Santanyí, a small village in the southeast of the island, with about 48 km of coast and an authentic Mallorcan atmosphere.

For the first night, we considered that many of the participants would be exhausted, so we decided to take advantage of the incredible hotel facilities and held dinner there. The open kitchen concept allowed our island chefs to cook local products while interacting with the rest of the participants. Many recipes and tips were shared that night!

The next day, early in the morning, the alarm clock rang, for it is well known that if you want to fish you have to get up early! But before the adventure began, an incredible breakfast was waiting for them.

We head towards Cala Figuera, a small fishing village where its white houses with green doors and the well-known llaüts (typical boats of our island) make it a unique enclave. Different llaüts together with their fishermen were waiting for our Chefs to start the adventure. For about five hours they went out fishing, shared experiences on board and had an incredible snack where pa amb oli and sobrasada stood out. Upon their arrival in port, the doors of our house were open to welcome them. Chefs and fishermen prepared a delicious dish, in which the fish obtained was undoubtedly the star.

After lunch, we returned to the hotel, where a hot water bath was waiting for them.

The second night, dinner was held in an old fishing village that dates back to the 16th century and has been converted into an agritourism. Nowadays the houses maintain all their fishing essence and a rustic style adapted to the needs of the 21st century. We decided that each house would be themed after a Mediterranean dish accompanied by one of the fishermen, who would explain to them what the delicacy consisted of. In this way we managed to maintain the surprise factor throughout the evening, as the chefs moved freely from house to house, being able to try different products from the island and share unique moments with each of the fishermen.

“Full belly, warm heart”

It is dawn and the experience is about to come to an end… But, although it is known that our island stands out for its almost 300 days of sunshine a year, February wanted to honour it and say goodbye in style: a delicious breakfast in the purest Mediterranean style in the hotel garden was waiting for them. Birdsong, sunshine, local food… The finishing touch before returning home.

This event was designed for a well-known French Champagne brand where the main objective was to invite their ambassadors, in this case Chefs with many Michelin stars, to live a unique experience in the Balearic Islands and shoot a promotional video.
